Precision Rimfire 22 Challenge July 14, 2019
It was hot. Really hot. But only occasional breezes, so not a bad day for shooting. And there was some very good shooting! This was a little bit tougher than the previous match, judging from the average score at both matches, and from the people that shot both (a few went up, but most were lower by a few points). There were some hiccups with the new targets on a couple of stages but they got ironed out.
We had one new interesting stage this time - 2" plates hung every 10 yards from 50 to 160, potentially 12 hits, but a miss means you are done. The best results were two shooters with 7 hits, out to 110 yards. Maybe I should use 3" plates...
The matchsticks were back this time after more than a year. Rob was the only shooter to get all 5. A few more got 4 of them. The top playing card score this time was 12 hits in 60 seconds, not touching the edge or any other shot. Pretty good!
Congratulations to Brian, Varmint and overall winner, with an 81, and to Rob with a 69 in Tactical, both outstanding results.
The 2 Vortex half-price certificates were won by Jeff Frey and Gregg Zarnstorff, and we gave away a few more hats too. If you ever get a chance to speak to Vortex on the phone or social media or at a show or something, please thank them for sponsoring the match series this year.
Thanks to everyone who came out to shoot and most of all THANK YOU to everyone that helped with setup and teardown. None of the matches would be possible for me to do alone, and especially not this one.
Course of Fire
Varmint division shoots all stages from the bench. [Tactical division positions in brackets].
* These stages are shot one shooter at a time, the others are all at the same time.
