The NRA Defensive Pistol Course is a one day, intermediate level class, dealing with the issues of carrying a concealed firearm.

The course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a concealed carry defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate:

• How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm 
• Basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster
• Levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection
• Clearing common stoppages
• Use of pocket pistols, and more

Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home Handbook and certificate upon completion of the class.

All students will need:

• Concealed carry pistol with holster and quality belt to support holster
• 200 Rounds of ammunition
• At least three magazines with magazine carrier(s) for semi-auto pistols, or 2-Speed-loaders and carrier(s) for revolver
• Cover Garment such as shirt, jacket, or vest
• Eye, and ear protection

For range portion of class please dress for outside weather.

Eligibility

Open to the public.  

This class is for law-abiding American Citizens; adults or mature teenagers.

Participants must be experienced shooters.  They don’t have to be experts, but they’ll be expected to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, loading, unloading, shooting, and cleaning the firearm.
