NRA basics of rifle shooting


The NRA Basic Rifle Course is a one day class, teaching the basics of using rifles.

The course includes classroom study and rifle shooting on one of our ranges. 

Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Rifle Shooting Handbook and certificate.

The NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting course covers the following topics:

  • Knowing your rifle
    • Rifle parts and how they work.
    • Ammunition
    • Using your rifle safely
    • Taking Care of your Rifle
  • Basic Shooting Skills
    • Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting
    • Firing the first shots
    • Rifle Shooting PositionsUsing the Shotgun as a rifle
  • The World of Rifle Shooting Opportunities
    • Marksmanship: A Skill That Lasts a Lifetime
    • Buying a Rifle
    • Share the Enjoyment of Shooting
    • Rifle Shooting Activities and opportunities for Skill Development
  • Shooters may qualify for rimfire rifle ratings patch using any one of the three courses of fire available: prone, benchrest, standing or 3 position (prone, standing and kneeling)


Eligibility

Open to the public.  

This class is for law-abiding American Citizens; adults or mature teenagers.
