NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course
Class length: One full day

Short Description:
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for the safe and efficient use of a handgun for self-defense, providing information on the rights of law-abiding individuals regarding self-defense.

More Details:

* Prerequisite: This course is designed for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, who are experienced shooters.

Participants should be able to demonstrate mastery of basic skills in safe gun handling, shooting accuracy, firearm zeroing, and maintenance. Acceptable proof includes:
- NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate
- NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate
- NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card
- Military DD 214 with pistol qualification
- Passing the Pre-Course Assessment

Course Description:
This is an eight-hour course, where students can expect to shoot approximately 150 rounds of ammunition. The course covers:

- Basic defensive shooting skills
- Strategies for home safety and responding to violent confrontations
- Firearms and the law
- Choosing a handgun for self-defense
- Opportunities for continued skill development

Each student will receive:
- NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook
- NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure
- Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet
- Course completion certificate
- NRA Defensive Pistol I patch
