This is the model course from the North Carolina Justice Academy that is required for citizens of North Carolina to obtain a Concealed Carry Handgun Permit The classroom portion will be held in the club house Students must be proficient in firearm handling. This is not a new shooter class. You will need a handgun and (50) rounds of factory-loaded, copper-jacketed ammunition. No reloaded ammunition or steel-core (armor piercing) rounds are permitted. Extra magazines are helpful. The course includes 8 hours of classroom training, followed by a written test, then a shooting qualification on the firing range. The qualification consists of 10 shots at 3 yards, 15 shots at 5 yards, and 15 shots at 7 yards . Target used is a NRA B-29 Police Silhouette. Class is limited to 12 students Cost is $100.00. At the end of this course, the student will be able to perform the following objectives in accordance with the information received during the instructional period: Demonstrate proficiency in safe handling of the handgun to include loading, unloading, storing or securing, and firing the handgun Identify the places that handguns may not be carried even with a CCH permit Identify the major parts of the revolver or semi-automatic pistol Demonstrate proficiency in marksmanship fundamentals Explain the provisions under North Carolina Common Law in which the use of deadly physical force would be justifiable
